port-royal
I've been very into this group lately. They are an italian 5-piece that creates what could be best described as ambient post-rock with electronica. Basically, múm (myspace.com/mumtheband) meets Tim Hecker (myspace.com/rainbowbloodx) meets Eluvium (www.myspace.com/eluviumtaken) meets Matryoshka (myspace.com/matryoshkamusic) meets Explosions In The Sky (www.myspace.com/explosionsinthesky). Basically. These guys have, crafted quite the melting pot of sound on their newest full-length, "Dying In Time", which spends its 1 hour and 20 minute duration slowly creeeping its way into your veins, and instills this comforting warmth that will have you numb. Its quite possibly the most beautiful album I've ever heard, definitely the most beautiful album of 2009. Almost every song flows into the other, which helps give the album the feeling of being one ever-expanding piece, that evolves over the course of 80 minutes. Its delicate enough to fall asleep to (which I have done on a number of occasions), but intricate enough to maintain a daytime run-through. This is the perfect music for a brisk winter morning walk through the park. Its the aural version of a massage, because this music relaxes the ear like nothing I've ever heard before. Highly highly HIGHLY recommended for those who enjoy beautiful, relaxing music.
